The Organising Committee of BEYOND 2020 officially announces:
Skanska is joining the next WSBE | World Sustainable Built Environment conference as Gold Sponsor.
Skanska, one of the largest construction and development companies worldwide with thousands of projects every year and more than 38 000 employees. They build for a better society and aim to be industry a leader in sustainable solutions, quality, safety and ethics.
Among the numerous, innovative projects ongoing in Gothenburg and all over Sweden, it is definitely worth mentioning the construction of the new bridge, “Hisingsbron”, that will replace the current Götaälvbron. At the core of Gothenburg’s urban development plans, the new Hisingsbron will connect the southern and northern parts of the city in a faster, more efficient and more sustainable way.
“This is the typical partner we value on our journey towards the conference and beyond”, says Holger Wallbaum, Professor Sustainable building at Chalmers University of Technology and Chair of BEYOND 2020. “Skanska’s commitment to sustainability and climate change is strong and genuine, and the determination to reduce their climate footprint serves as a beacon for other companies, I’m sure”.
Lena Hök, (Senior Vice President Sustainability): “Skanska Group aims to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. For many years, we have been reducing our climate footprint and making leaps in our sustainability efforts. With the help of our customers – putting a higher demand on sustainability in procurement and through partnerships, we can take this work to the next level. The WSBE conference is a great opportunity to drive an open dialogue on some of these areas, to help us further understand what will be needed for the future.”
Welcome onboard, Skanska!
