Past President of Royal Institute of British Architects (2003-5) and first elected Mayor of Bristol UK (Independent 2012-16). Under his leadership Bristol became European Green Capital, a founder Rockefeller Resilient City and a UNESCO Learning City.

He is a promoter of liveable cities, local economies and the global environment through practical projects and his People & Cities consultancy.
