André Eckermann

Head of Section, Competence Center for Energy and Transport

Currently he is heading the Competence Center for Energy and Transport at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German government’s agency for international technical cooperation. His professional enthusiasm was always concentrated on fighting climate change. As an economist, he believes in change driven by (dis-)incentives. From 2005 to 2012 he was Portfolio and Programme Manager for German-Mexican cooperation in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency. From 2012 to 2019 he was responsible for several global and regional programmes for greenhouse gas mitigation in the transport sector and contributed to the foundation of the MobiliseYourCity Partnership. Prior to joining GIZ, he worked at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy, a German think tank.
